01Information handled by the app
kaonull handles videos you select through operating system photo or file pickers, face analysis results, face-hiding settings, and manual adjustments on your device. This information is used to import, preview, edit, and export videos, and to resume your work. Audio in the selected video is used for video playback and export.
The app does not include SDKs for advertising or tracking user activity. The types, uses, and sharing of face data are described in the following “How face data is handled” section.
02How face data is handled
Face data includes images of faces in your selected video, their positions, sizes, and orientations, and a score indicating how confident the app is that it detected a face. It also includes when faces appear, how they move, and the time intervals over which they are tracked. Other face data includes coordinates of the face outline, eyes, eyebrows, nose, and mouth; shapes calculated from these coordinates to cover faces; and small face images (thumbnails) shown in the app. Each tracking interval has an identifier used only to distinguish intervals within that work.
The app uses face data to detect and track faces and decide where to place blur, emoji, or other effects, including their size and shape. These results are used to preview, edit, and export videos. Face thumbnails are created from your video on your device to help you tell tracking intervals apart while editing. Saved analysis results and edits also let you resume your work.
The app temporarily uses coordinates of the face outline, eyes, eyebrows, nose, and mouth to calculate shapes that cover faces. It saves face positions, sizes, tracking intervals, calculated shapes, and edits as working data. It does not save the original coordinates of facial features or separate thumbnail image files. The working video itself still contains the original face images.
The app does not create data for identifying people or authenticating them by their faces, such as face feature vectors or authentication templates. Face data is not used for advertising, marketing, building user profiles, matching people across different videos, or training AI models.
Video analysis and face effects use frameworks such as Apple’s Vision and Core Image on your device. Videos and face data are not sent to the Developer’s or third parties’ servers for processing or storage. The Developer does not receive face data through ordinary app use and does not provide or sell it to advertising platforms, analytics services, data brokers, or similar parties.
When you save or share videos, or send images or videos containing faces to support, the recipient also handles that information. Device backups and photo or file syncing may also store it with the services you use. These practices are described in “Storage and deletion,” “Information received through support,” and “External services and this website.”
03Storage and deletion
The app saves working data in its private storage area on your device so you can resume editing. This includes a copy of the video or a reference for opening the original file, face analysis results (positions, sizes, tracking intervals, and shapes that cover faces), face effect settings, and edits such as manual adjustments. There is no limit on how many days this data is kept. It stays until you discard the current or previous work or replace it with another video. Completing analysis or export does not delete it.
Video frames used during analysis, coordinates of facial features, and face thumbnails stay in device memory only as long as needed for processing or display. They are not saved as image or coordinate files separate from the working video and analysis results.
On iPhone and iPad, temporary export files are deleted when a new export starts. When the app launches, it deletes temporary export files that are at least 24 hours old. Deletion based on file age runs only when the app launches.
You can delete working data, including face data, by discarding the current or previous work in the app. Deleting the app on iPhone or iPad also deletes data in its private storage area on that device, while the operating system’s “Offload App” option may retain that data.
Discarding work does not delete original or exported videos in your photo library or files. Delete these using the Photos app, file management tools, or the service where they are saved or shared. Exported videos may contain faces you have chosen not to hide.
Device backups and photo or file syncing may store videos and face data in iCloud or similar services. The app does not provide its own cloud syncing. Operating system and external service backups and syncing follow your settings. Discarding work in the app does not guarantee deletion of copies in previous backups or shared destinations. Manage information in backups and syncing destinations through those services.
04Device permissions
The app uses operating system photo or file pickers to import videos and analyzes the video you select. When saving an edited video to the photo library on iPhone or iPad, the app requests permission to add photos and videos to the library.
You can change or revoke device permissions in Settings. Revoking a permission may prevent you from using the corresponding feature, such as saving to the photo library. Revoking a permission alone does not delete videos or face analysis results already imported. To delete saved working data, discard the work in the app.
On the video selection screen, tap the underlined on-device processing message to learn how videos and face data are handled. The same explanation and a link to this policy are also available in the app’s settings.
05Information received through support
When you contact us, we receive your email address, sender name, message, and any images, videos, or other materials you choose to attach. If you attach images or videos containing faces, the Developer also receives that information. The app does not send it automatically.
We use this information only to respond to your inquiry, including answering questions and investigating issues. Attachments containing face data are not used for advertising, identifying people, training AI models, or similar purposes.
We retain support information for as long as necessary to handle the inquiry and delete information that is no longer needed. We do not set a fixed retention period. If you wish to review, correct, or delete your information, please contact us using the details below. We will respond after verifying that the request comes from you.
We use Apple’s iCloud Mail to send, receive, and store emails. Support information, including attachments, is stored in the service’s mailbox. We use this service only to the extent necessary to provide support and do not disclose the information you provide to unrelated third parties, except where required by law.
06External services and this website
When you choose to save or share a video, that information is passed to the destination you select. It is handled according to the terms and privacy policies of those destinations or services. Please check their syncing settings and who can access your information.
This website is served through Cloudflare. When you access the site, Cloudflare processes connection information, such as your IP address, for content delivery and security. We do not place advertising or behavioral analytics scripts on this website. Videos and face data are not sent to Cloudflare for the app’s face analysis or video processing.
For information about how these external services handle information, please refer to Apple’s Privacy Policy and Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
